The Los Angeles Lakers plan on prioritizing their pursuit of Kawhi Leonard and Kyrie Irving as free agency begins.

"My understanding is they'll spend that $32 million on a max player if it is Kawhi Leonard or Kyrie Irving," said Ramona Shelburne on The Jump. "If it's not one of those two players, things get a little more complicated. They'd rather split that up.

"Now, there's some discussion about Jimmy Butler, but it's really Kawhi or Kyrie Irving.

"If you're waiting on Kawhi and you're waiting on Kyrie, and you don't get either of them, you might miss on Darren Collison or Danny Green or DeAndre Jordan, or any of those other pieces you'd be looking at on the second tier."

Irving is widely expected to sign with the Brooklyn Nets, but there have been links with him considering the Lakers.
