Kevin Durant never found the friendship he was looking for with Steph Curry due to circumstance, according to Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic

“He wanted that type of relationship. It just didn’t work out like that," a source told Thompson, who added that Durant originally signed with the Warriors in search of a bond, especially with Curry.

Timing was the biggest hurdle in their inability to connect on a deeper level, with Curry focused on his family and Durant still single.

Sources also told Thompson that Durant and Kyrie Irving planned on playing together for months, with Durant preferring the Knicks and Irving wanting the Nets. Both players, along with DeAndre Jordan - who is also close friends with Durant - all signed with the Nets.
