The expectation for most of the winter of the 18-19 season was Kevin Durant would sign with the New York Knicks in free agency.

But expectations shifted after a March 12th episode of "The Michael Kay Show" featuring an appearance by James Dolan, according to Ethan Strauss at The Athletic.

“We hear from people all the time, from players, representatives," said Dolan. "It’s about who wants to come. We can’t respond because of the NBA rules, but that doesn’t stop them from telling us, and they do. I can tell you from what we’ve heard, I think we’re going to have a very successful offseason when it comes to free agents.”

Durant tore his Achilles in The Finals and will be out for the entire 19-20 season.
