The Australian Boomers have defeated Team USA 98-94 in a pre-World Cup exhibition game on Saturday in Melbourne, breaking a 78 game winning streak spanning 13 years.

It was the first loss for the U.S. in a major international tournament or exhibition since the 2006 world championship semifinals against Greece.

Spurs guard Patty Mills led the Aussies with 30 points, while Utah forward Joe Ingles had 15.

"They wanted it more than us tonight," U.S. guard Kemba Walker said. "Lesson learned for us.''
