Jayson Tatum looked ahead to a new Boston Celtics season after falling short of expectations last year.

"We're ready for a fresh start," Tatum told Tim Bontemps of ESPN.

Marcus Smart agreed with Tatum's assessment, adding that the team learned from the mistakes of last year.

"I guess the outlook I have on it is it's a new day and a new opportunity. We tried it, and things just didn't work. We learned from those [things], and now we know what to do so we hopefully don't make those same mistakes," said Smart.

Gordon Hayward added that the Celtics were burdened by expectations last season.

"I think everyone expected us, and they kind of just handed us, that we were going to walk to the Finals. That's just not the case -- especially in this league."
