Masai Ujiri emerged in 2017 as a possible replacement for Phil Jackson to run the New York Knicks and his existing contract with the Toronto Raptors expires in 2021.
Steve Mills, however, persuaded James Dolan to promote him while also hiring Scott Perry as general manager.
Frank Isola recently asked Ujiri about his future and the highly respected exec said his focus remains solely on the Raptors.
“The most important thing is that when you sign a contract you’re obligated to serve it,” Ujiri said. “I signed the contract and I have time left on that contract and I will serve the time. This place has been unbelievable to me. It’s been just a blessing.”
The Washington Wizards were preparing an offer to Ujiri last year, but eventually promoted Tommy Sheppard.
“Are there challenges in my mind?” Ujiri told Isola. “Everybody has those. You want the challenges. And we play sports to win and I want to win.”
