The NBA announced that it would cancel any media availability for the rest of their trip in China which concludes with one more game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets.

"We have decided not to hold media availability for our teams for the remainder of our trip in China. They have been placed into a complicated and unprecedented situation while abroad and we believe it would be unfair to ask them to address these matters in real time," the league announced in a statement.

The NBA came to the decision independent of outside pressure, league sources told Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

The Nets beat the Lakers 114-111 in China on Thursday. The Chinese government allowed the game to be played provided that there would be no media availability at the event and that Adam Silver cancel his pregame news conference.
