Bradley Beal has agreed to a two-year, $72 million contract extension with the Washington Wizards.

The deal contains a player option for the 22-23 season meaning Beal cannot become a free agent until 2022. Beal would be eligible to sign a five-year, $266 million deal in 2022.

Beal is guaranteed $130 million over four seasons.

The Wizards had been offering Beal up to a maximum three-year, $111 million extension in any form he wanted it in.

Beal had been identified as the most gettable superstar before his commitment to remain with the Wizards. But Ted Leonsis and Tommy Sheppard have been meeting regularly with Beal and agent Mark Bartelstein discussing the franchise's future.
