The NBA is in the midst of its longest trade drought since 1968.

There hasn't been a trade since Russell Westbrook was traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Houston Rockets for Chris Paul in July.

A large proportion of NBA players are currently ineligible for trade after signing free agent contracts.

“With so many new players on new teams, many teams are still trying to figure out their needs,” explained one NBA executive. “Look at how many stars changed teams. I think that is the main reason for the drought.”
