Some members of the Los Angeles Lakers organization anticipate Anthony Davis passing on a full five-year, $205 million contract extension this offseason and instead signing a two-plus-one deal.

Davis could then reenter free agency in 2022 at the age of 29 when he would become eligible for a 35 percent max.

At that point in time, LeBron James will be 37 and Davis will have a better gauge of the Lakers' long-term prospects.
