Many NBA teams are united in encouraging the 2020 draft to be delayed from its scheduled date of June 25 to no sooner than August 1.

Teams believe shifting the draft date will give organizations more time to salvage the essential elements of the pre-draft process.

The NBA remains on Adam Silver's timeline of May 1 as the earliest that decisions will be made on adjusting the calendar.

The August 1 date would be flexible and based on whether the league restarts and plays through the summer. Most envision a September draft and free agency period based on a season that concludes around Labor Day weekend.

There is an expectation no draft will occur while the season is ongoing since that would impact player trades.
