The NBA is considering shortening the 19-20 regular season to 70 games with play resuming in July. Teams have played approximately 65 games apiece before the season was suspended.
The potential solutions are “fluid,” one source said.
Playing an additional five regular season games would give playoff contenders an opportunity to play for seeding, while lottery teams would also participate.
If the pandemic doesn't allow the NBA to resume play in July, a relaunch in August is in play with the possibility of instead going straight into the playoffs.
