The New York Knicks have 11 candidates for their head coaching position, but league sources tell Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic that Tom Thibodeau remains the frontrunner.

The Knicks have made their coaching search exhaustive and wide-ranging despite the widely held expectation that Thibodeau would eventually get the job.

Leon Rose said in June that he expects the Knicks to conclude their search in mid- to late-July.

One person with knowledge of the search thought the Knicks have also been using the interviews to get information on teams around the league.

Thibodeau was fired by the Minnesota Timberwolves in January of 2019.
