The upcoming slate of NBA exhibition games will feature shortened 10 minute quarters instead of the usual 12 minutes.

Part of the league's reasoning for shortening each quarter involves decreasing player load after they have been out for the past four months.

"This is a different situation. In all areas, really. ... I do think that there's some latitude to do some different things," said Rick Carlisle.

Exhibition games will start on Wednesday.

The league is still ironing out details, such as whether to let teams wear their full uniforms or practice gear.
