The NBA has yet to make a decision on whether there will be a 2020-21 G League season and sources tell Sam Vecenie of The Athletic that there is a split on the topic.

The G League could exist in a regional model to save money on travel. The league already loses money on the G League so the loss of revenue from having no fans in attendance is minimal.

A few sources also note that the NBA has made a push for the G League to become more relevant with the G League Select Team featuring potential top-five 2021 picks Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga.

Other sources counter that many owners are interested in reducing costs any way they can. Some teams have already scaled back and laid off front office executives in the G League.
