The airing of the Republican National Convention on television each night this week played a role in contributing to the reaction from NBA players to go on strike to protest the shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin.

"I've had more than one player, coach tell me, you know, we talk about all the other factors that contributed to this and this is a fact, this is what guys are talking about: they'd go back to their rooms and watch that political convention this week and they saw the rhetoric and how a group of people in this country look at minorities and how they use minorities to scare other Americans," said Adrian Wojnarowski on his podcast. "And that was absolutely a factor in what happened the week.

"I mean guys saw it. They were hearing it. Like, we've got televisions in the bubble. We've got social media in the bubble. We see what is being said. What was going on. What has continued to happen. That was a factor in this."

"Absolutely," replied Malika Andrews. "It can't be overlooked that the Milwaukee Bucks were looking and working before the convention went virtual, to host the Democratic National Convention. And all of this is connected. All of it."
