Chauncey Billups has emerged as a candidate for the Indiana Pacers' head coaching job.

Billups and the Pacers officials have recently engaged and are planning to talk further conversations about the job.

The Pacers have previously hired Larry Bird and Isiah Thomas without prior coaching experience.

Billups had discussed joining Ty Lue as an assistant coach. Lue doesn't appear to be a candidate for the Pacers as he's focused on the Philadelphia 76ers and New Orleans Pelicans.

Billups has built relationships with the Pacers backcourt of Victor Oladipo and Malcolm Brogdon in recent years, but they're not running the Pacers search.
