Stan Van Gundy has agreed to become the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans, according to ESPN. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports the deal is for four seasons.

Van Gundy replaces Alvin Gentry as the Pelicans enter Year 2 of the Zion Williamson era.

The Detroit Pistons parted ways with Van Gundy in 2018 where he was both head coach and president of basketball operations. Van Gundy spent the 19-20 season as a color analyst for TNT.

Van Gundy led the Orlando Magic to The Finals in 2009.
