Gordon Hayward and the Boston Celtics have extended the deadline for him to exercise his $34.2 million player option for the 20-21 season from Tuesday at 5:00 PM ET to Thursday after the draft.

There has been speculation that the Celtics could attempt to trade Hayward if he exercises his player option.

Hayward signed a four-year, $128 million contract with the Celtics during the 2017 deadline. Hayward has battled a number of injuries and a reduced role following the emergence of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Hayward is represented by Mark Bartelstein.
