The Houston Rockets have agreed to trade Trevor Ariza and the No. 16 overall pick to the Detroit Pistons for a future first round pick. Houston acquired Ariza from the Portland Trail Blazers earlier this week as part of the Robert Covington trade.

The deal allows the Rockets to use their full mid-level exception in free agency worth $9.3 million.

Houston will also purchase Detroit's 2021 second round pick via the Los Angeles Lakers for $4.6 million.

The Rockets also will create a $12.8 million trade exception with the move.
