Gordon Hayward has agreed to a four-year, $120 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets. Hayward previously signed an offer sheet with the Hornets during his 2014 restricted free agency that the Utah Jazz matched.

Hayward also received interest from the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks, while the Boston Celtics also had interest in retaining him. The Celtics would have gone deep into the luxury tax by re-signing Hayward to a deal comparable to what he was offered by Charlotte.

Hayward signed a four-year, $127.8 million deal with the Celtics in 2017 and then opted out of his $34 million deal this offseason. Hayward is a client of Mark Bartelstein.

It was believed Hayward preferred to end up with the Pacers, but any deal required the participation of the Celtics in a sign-and-trade.

Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Herald reports that as of Saturday evening, the Celtics and Hornets are still discussing a potential sign-and-trade.
