The NBA has no plans to pause the season despite thinning rosters due to health and safety protocols as a result of COVID-19, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Team executives have privately raised concerns in the past several days with a rising number of players in protocol.

The NBA sees a greater risk of infection should play be suspended, with health and medical professionals pushing for the season to continue.

Executives and coaches are also reportedly frustrated that the league's competitive balance is being compromised due to the number of players in protocol.

There was a discussion before the season to expand rosters to 19, though the change was not adopted.

The Heat-Celtics game on Sunday was cancelled due to the Heat's inability to field a required eight players.
