Masai Ujiri has yet to sign a contract extension with the Toronto Raptors despite his contract set to expire at the conclusion of the 20-21 season. Sources tell Tom Haberstroh at TrueHoop that the "lack of an extension is a notable non-event."

The Washington Wizards pursued Ujiri during the 2019 NBA Playoffs, but eventually kept Tommy Shepherd in the job.

The New York Knicks were previously interested in Ujiri, but now have Leon Rose in the role.

"Opposing executives are watching the trade deadline as a sign of Ujiri’s future," writes Haberstroh. "If he’s sticking around for the long haul, the guess is that he will make big trades to make the team younger."

Haberstroh adds "opposing executives will view the upcoming deadline as something of a canary in the coal mine on Ujiri’s future with the team."
