Danny Ainge has stepped down as President of Basketball Operations of the Boston Celtics and multiple reporters suggest he could eventually end up in a role with the Utah Jazz.

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated and Henry Abbott of TrueHoop each reported the links to the Jazz for Ainge.

"As rumors of Ainge's exit rippled through the NBA in recent months, a role with the Jazz has been seen as a potential next step," writes Mannix.

Abbott adds that new Utah owner Ryan Smith is "best friends" with Ainge. Smith and Ainge are both from Eugene, Oregon and they both attended BYU.

Ainge was non-committal during his interview on Wednesday about whether he will stay retired.

"I don't know what my future holds," said Ainge. "I don't have any plans ... I'll think about the future somewhere in the future."
