Kawhi Leonard is almost certain to decline his $36 million option with the Los Angeles Clippers for the 21-22 season, even if he only decides to sign a one-plus-one contract that starts at 35 percent of the cap due to his 10 years of service.

Leonard can only sign a four-year, $175 million deal with the Clippers this offseason as he will be an early Bird free agent.

If Leonard signs a one-plus-one and becomes a free agent again in 2022, he can then sign a five-year, $246 million deal as he will have full Bird rights with the Clippers.

Leonard joined the Clippers in 2019.
