Mark Cuban continues to have final say on the basketball decisions of the Dallas Mavericks regardless of who else has influence in the front office.

"Donnie Nelson finally ended up on the losing side of a power struggle," said Tim MacMahon on The Lowe Post. "Donnie's decision-making power, influence... Because, look, here's the thing you have to understand about the Mavericks: Jerry Jones is the Dallas Cowboys general manager. Mark Cuban has the same role for the Mavericks. He doesn't have the official title. Mark Cuban makes all the basketball decisions. It just comes down to whose advice he's taking at the time.

"He took Donnie's advice with Luka. I think Bob Voulgaris was also strong in pushing for Luka. I think that was a consensus decision.

"There was a time when a lot of people considered Dan Fegan, the late, great player agent, considered him to be somewhat of a shadow general manager for the Mavericks."

Fegan represented Dwight Howard, Chandler Parsons, DeAndre Jordan and others.
