Jason Kidd is finalizing a deal to become the next head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The 48-year-old is currently in the process of assembling his coaching staff.

Kidd was most recently a head coach in 2018 with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Kidd has served as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers over the past two seasons.

The Mavericks drafted Kidd in 1994 out of California and returned to the franchise as a player in 2008, winning a title in 2011.

Tim MacMahon of ESPN adds that the Mavericks also considered Jamahl Mosley, who has a particularly strong relationship with Luka Doncic.
