The Los Angeles Lakers and Lionel Hollins did not agree to terms on a new contract and will part ways after two seasons as an assistant coach.

Hollins had interest in returning but there was frustration with the Lakers' communication on a new deal.

The Lakers also lost Jason Kidd from Frank Vogel's staff this offseason.

Mike Penberthy drew interest from Kidd and Dallas and was offered a front-of-the-bench seat with the Mavericks before Los Angeles matched the offer.

The front of the Lakers’ bench is currently occupied by new addition David Fizdale and mainstays Phil Handy and Penberthy.
