ESPN has canceled 'The Jump' and has also removed Rachel Nichols from all NBA programming moving forward.

Nichols was informed of the moves this week and remains under contract with ESPN. Nichols is unlikely to appear on ESPN's air during that time.

ESPN will launch a new afternoon NBA show leading to the start of the 21-22 season. It is not yet known who will host the show or what format it will take.

Nichols began to host 'The Jump' when she returned to ESPN in 2016.

ESPN removed Nichols from her duties as sideline reporter for The Finals following a New York Times story detailing private disparaging comments she made about Maria Taylor in 2020.

“We mutually agreed that this approach regarding our NBA coverage was best for all concerned,” ESPN Senior VP/Production David Roberts said in a statement emailed to SBJ. “Rachel is an excellent reporter, host and journalist, and we thank her for her many contributions to our NBA content.”
