The Cleveland Cavaliers and Kevin Love are making progress toward a buyout. Love has two seasons and $60 million remaining on his contract extension signed shortly after the departure of LeBron James in 2018.

The buyout is not close to a done deal and talks could still fall apart, according to a source.

Love has been hampered by injuries, a general decline in his performance, and intermittent attitude issues since signing his extension.

The Cavaliers acquired Lauri Markkanen in a sign-and-trade with the Chicago Bulls and Portland Trail Blazers on Friday, which will further limit any available minute for Love.
