The Houston Rockets and Armoni Brooks have agreed to a four-year contract. The first season will be fully guaranteed, with the final four years being non-guaranteed with trigger dates.

Brooks played for the Rockets on a Two-Way contract as a rookie. He played in 20 games, with five starts. Brooks averaged 11.2 points per game on 38.2% shooting from behind the arc.

This offseason, Houston re-signed Brooks to a training camp contract. Because a training camp deal can't be converted to a new standard contract, the Rockets had to jump through some hoops to sign Brooks to his new contract. Houston converted Brooks back to a Two-Way deal. From there, the Rockets will sign Brooks to his new contract.

Houston could have waived Brooks from his training camp deal and attempted to re-sign him to his new four-year contract. However, that process would have exposed Brooks to being claimed on waivers.

The Rockets now have 16 fully guaranteed contracts. They'll need to trade a player, or they'll eat some dead money on their books.
