Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets have agreed upon his return to play in road games outside of New York and Toronto.

Irving has been unwilling to satisfy the vaccine mandates in New York City, which led to the Nets initially deciding he would remain away from the team until the mandate was lifted or he changed his position on the vaccine.

"We arrived at this decision with the full support of our players and after careful consideration of our current circumstances, including players missing games due to injuries and health and safety protocols," general manager Sean Marks said in a statement. "We believe that the addition of Kyrie will not only make us a better team but allow us to more optimally balance the physical demand on the entire roster.

"We look forward to Kyrie's return to the lineup, as well as getting our entire roster back together on the court."

Irving has to test negative on five successive days before he can rejoin the Nets. Once he returns, he must test every day as an unvaccinated player.

Irving has been eager to get back, sources told ESPN.
