The Utah Jazz plan to sign wing Denzel Valentine to a 10-day hardship contract. Utah is currently down several players due to the NBA's health and safety protocols.

Valentine was recently waived by the New York Knicks. New York acquired Valentine from the Cleveland Cavaliers in a three-team trade that also included the Los Angeles Lakers. Valentine had averaged 2.9 points in 22 games with the Cavs.

The Jazz had previously looked to acquire James Ennis, who recently completed a 10-day deal with the LA Clippers. However, Ennis was deemed a close contact for COVID. Because of this, Utah quickly pivoted to Valentine, due to having an immediate need.
