Nic Batum will decline his $3.3 million player option for the 2022-23 season. He'll then become an unrestricted free agent, but there is mutual interest between Batum and the LA Clippers in a new deal.

Batum has had a career resurgence over the last two years in LA. Since joining the Clippers, the veteran wing has averaged 8.2 points and 4.5 rebounds, while putting up 46/40/76 shooting splits.

The Clippers have one of the more expensive rosters in the NBA, but Steve Ballmer has yet to make paying a big luxury bill a concern. LA recently signed Robert Covington to a one-year extension, after he was acquired with Norman Powell ahead of the trade deadline.
