Despite a statement from his now former agent Thad Foucher that seemed to the contrary, Russell Westbrook has reportedly never requested a trade from the Los Angeles Lakers. Sources told the Los Angeles Times that Westbrook and Foucher's split had “nothing to do with the Lakers.”

In a statement to ESPN, Foucher indicated that his opinion differed from Westbrook's on how the veteran guard should move forward this season. Foucher said he wanted Westbrook to stay with the Lakers and to work with new coach Darvin Ham. According to Foucher, Westbrook felt differently.

Westbrook's future in Los Angeles still seems up in the air. He and LeBron James notably avoided each other at Summer League recently. The Lakers stars are also reportedly pushing for a trade for Kyrie Irving, which would have to include Westbrook being traded.
