Kevin Durant was owed and received an eight-figure check from the Brooklyn Nets on July 1st, one day after he formally requested a trade.

Durant's latest contract with the Nets includes the most aggressive early payment schedule allowed by league roles where he receives half of his $42,969,845 salary before the first week of training camp. In Durant's case, that means he was due a check of $10,742,461 on the day after informing Brooklyn that he wants to be dealt. Durant will receive the second payment of that amount on Oct. 1.

Most players don't say collecting their annual salaries until the season actually starts.

Durant signed a four-year, $194 million extension in August 2021.
