Russell Westbrook is hoping to return from his hamstring injury on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Westbrook missed the Lakers' Wednesday game against the Nuggets with the injury.

Darvin Ham said that the team plans to take the injury "day-to-day."

“We all came to a conclusion that it’s early in the season, there’s no reason to stretch it out or put him in a vulnerable position. Take it day-to-day," said Ham.

It was reported earlier on Wednesday that Westbrook is more likely to have his role reduced by the Lakers than get traded from the team.
