As part of an extended, exclusive interview with Marc J. Spears, Joe Mazzulla was asked if about the interim status still attached to hi with the Boston Celtics.

Ime Udoka is suspended for the entire 22-23 season and is not expected to return next season.

"I honestly could care less," said Mazzulla. "Whether you’re the interim or not, you’re always the interim. It goes back to what is the truth. The truth of the matter is it’s just a name. And whether I have a five-year deal or a one-year deal, I can be gone at any time. And so, it doesn’t really matter. And so, the second, if they take it off, I’m still the interim. And so, it’s just more about am I fulfilling my responsibility.

"And in a time of just uncertainty, I’m blessed, because this storied franchise asked me to help lead it. Not do it myself, they’ve asked me to help and that is important. And however long that lasts, that’s what I’m supposed to be doing right now. And if they take it away, guess what? I’m that much closer to getting fired."
