The Boston Celtics are considered unlikely to sign Jakob Poeltl at the deadline, sources tell Jay King of The Athletic.

The Celtics are searching for another big man, but a team acquiring Poeltl would likely be positioned to offer him the starting job next season. Poeltl will be a free agent in the offseason.

For Boston, Poeltl would be a third big man and give them injury depth behind Rob Williams and Al Horford.

The Celtics are also more willing to play small lineups now.
