The Toronto Raptors were close to getting Deandre Ayton in a sign-and-trade with the Phoenix Suns last summer, according to Josh Lewenberg of TSN.

Ayton instead re-signed with the Suns on a four-year, $132.9 million contract.

The news comes on the heels of the Suns reportedly being interested in OG Anunoby. 

It was reported earlier in the day that Anunoby was ready to be traded from the Raptors.
