Gregg Popovich is widely expected to remain as head coach of the San Antonio Spurs next season as he is believed to have free reign to hold the position for as long as he chooses.

But sources tell Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports that Popovich's contract expired at the end of the 22-23 season and he has yet to re-sign a new deal.

Popovich is 74 and there have been logical questions on how much longer he would like to be a head coach.

With the Spurs winning the lottery to draft Victor Wembanyama, Popovich could conceivably coach for longer than he previously intended given the special circumstances of the incoming rookie's talent.
