Phil Knight has interest in purchasing the Portland Trail Blazers, but he has been unable to engage Jody Allen, according to a report from Rachel Bachman of the Wall Street Journal.

Jody Allen is managing the estate of her late brother Paul Allen, including the Blazers and the Seattle Seahawks.

Knight has partnered with Alan Smolinisky on purchasing the Blazers and submitted a $2 billion written offer to buy the franchise last year. Knight and Smolinisky would like to buy the Blazers and also develop the land around the Moda Center.

Knight and Smolinisky reached out again this year expressing a desire to discuss buying the Blazers with a willingness to raise their offer.

Allen's camp responded that the Blazers and Seahawks remain off the market.

John Canzano reports in response to the Wall Street Journal article that Jody Allen is collecting a management fee to be trustee of Paul Allen's estate and could be slow playing a sale of his assets for that reason. With the Blazers worth approximately $3 billion, Jody Allen could possibly collect approximately $100 million per year on the team's value alone.
