At 4-9, not much has gone well for the New York Knicks this season. In fact, not much has gone well for one of the NBA?s most storied franchises in the past few years. However, with a guy like second-year forward Channing Frye on the team, there?s a bright spot around during even the dullest of times.

A member of the All-Rookie First Team last season, Frye has maintained his position as the future of the Knicks this season. After struggling in the early parts of the season, Frye broke out against the Rockets Monday night with twenty-two points, nine rebounds, and two blocks. I recently was able to catch up with Frye:

How much differently did you approach this season, compared to last?

I think I came into this season with higher expectations on myself. I just want to come in here with an open attitude and mind, and be ready to play good team basketball.

How happy were you when you were drafted by the Knicks, and you realized you?d be playing close to your hometown of White Plains?

I was definitely excited. You know, more so home is just where my family is. My grandparents and most of my aunts and uncles live around here so it was a huge thing for me to be drafted by New York. Especially with the tradition and everything out here with the Knicks. It felt good.

What was the highlight of your rookie season?

Just getting drafted was a highlight. Getting the opportunity to come out here and play for a living was the biggest thing for me.

I read on your website that you do a lot with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (nmss.org). What have you done for them?

They had an MS Walk in the area last year that I kicked off, and then they had an MS night here at Madison Square Garden. I think this year we?re going to have a bowl-a-thon at the end of the year to support the charity.

If you can improve one aspect of your game what would it be?

Just longevity and being able to be the most complete player I can be. I really just want to be the best that I can be, and I want to prove that not just to everyone else but myself as well.
