Tim Buckley of the Desert News reports that the injury bug has caught the Jazz. Calbert Cheaney was the latest to get hurt as he suffered a high ankle sprain and was unable to play the second half of last nights against the Trail Blazers.

The injury occurred in the first half. Cheaney was able to get the ankle re-taped and finish the half, but was unable to play on it after halftime. His status for tonight?s game against Philadelphia is unknown.

Center Jaron Collins who has a torn MCL and a ruptured ACL has been advised by doctors to wait for surgery. He will undergo reconstructive surgery on the ACL in about eight weeks  and will not have surgery on the MCL. The delay will allow both injuries, which have different rehab requirements, to heal properly.

Rookies Raul Lopez and Chris Borchardt are still a long way from being able to contribute. Lopez is out for the season after reconstructive surgery on his knee while Borchardt is recovering from having pins placed in his foot and no return date has been set.
