With owner Rich Devos in town to get to the bottom of the matter, the Orlando Magic may soon know whether Tracy McGrady is in their future plans.

"I don't know when the resolution will be made public, but we'll have it pretty soon," Magic general manager John Weisbrod said Monday.

McGrady can opt out of his seven-year contract after next season but the Magic have been waiting for an answer since the season ended and want a decision now.

Weisbrod said that the team was leaning toward keeping its pick and making the number one overall selection in the June 24 Draft.

However, the Orlando Sentinel cites a league source which says the Magic are trying to trade their top pick and two teams are hot on the trail to consummate a deal.  It is reported that one of these teams is a non-lottery club.

McGrady has expressed a preference that the Magic deal the pick for veteran players who can contribute right away.

Weisbrod says he has a "sense" of what McGrady will do but nobody on either side of the issue is being specific.

The Sentinel says indications are that McGrady is likely to ask the Magic to trade him to a playoff team, and the silence of all parties could indicate that a deal to ship McGrady out of Orlando is imminent.
