Michael Olowokandi, after offering to pay his way to training camp with Phoenix only to find that the Suns don?t ?post up,? fired agent Bill Duffy and called the Celtics last Saturday.

?I had a good response with Doc (Rivers) and the coaching staff last year,? said Olowokandi, who signed a non-guaranteed training camp contract, a far cry from the high-end deal that expired in June.

?The thing with Doc is that he will always give you an opportunity,? said Olowokandi, belying the fact he spent most of his time as a Celtic on the bench. ?I?ve never been one to ask for charity, and this isn?t about financial incentives. This was a last-minute decision by me. I could have waited for a player to get injured somewhere, but I just felt good about coming back here. Before the end of the season I had a conversation with Doc where I told him that I wanted to come back.?
