Paul Pierce sat down with the Boston Globe for a lengthy interview recently and commented on a number of things, including his dramatic comeback from a knee injury in Game One of the 2008 NBA Finals against the Lakers.
"I fell, heard a pop in my knee. I thought I wasn't going to come back," Pierce said.
As bad as the injury appeared, he was back on the court minutes later after a trip to the locker room. Some accused Pierce of being over-dramatic.
"No, not really," Pierce said of accusations that he was acting a bit. "Not something I planned. I'd never want to leave my teammates. I've never been a player who faked an injury. Why would I want to come off the court during the NBA Finals game? Only people in LA would think that was something I planned. That is Hollywood!"
