Friday's meeting on the NBA's next collective bargaining agreement is unlikely to have an effect on Carmelo Anthony's decision to sign a contract extension with a team or wait to become a free agent this summer.

"Carmelo Anthony said he didn't learn anything in Friday's CBA meeting that he thinks it's less of a risk to become free agent this summer," Chris Tomasson of FanHouse wrote on his Twitter page.

It's possible that the NBA could restructure contracts, meaning Anthony wouldn't make as much under a max contract signed this summer as he could if he signed the three-year, $65 million extension he could currently.

That said, there has been talk that the league could reduce the value of contracts retroactively, which would minimize the risk of Anthony hitting the free agent market.
