Deron Williams underwent an MRI exam at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan on Wednesday, which revealed bone fragments as well as the buildup of scar tissue in his right wrist, Nets General Manager Billy King announced Friday.

Williams will undergo surgery on his wrist on Monday to remove the bone fragments and to excise the scar tissue from the wrist. Williams will miss the remainder of the regular season. The Nets will release further details following the completion of the surgical procedure.

The surgery was originally to take place on Friday, but Williams was sent home because of a scheduling conflict, King later said.
