Jabari Parker’s father is keeping close tabs on the job status of Illinois head coach Bruce Weber.

"It's going to very difficult to have a relationship right now," Sonny Parker said when asked to comment on the possibility of Illinois bringing in a new coach. "This has been a 2-3 year process. Anybody they bring in, that's going to be very difficult to pick up where they left off in terms of where coach Weber was in recruiting. But you never know. You don't know who they're going to bring in."

Parker, who is the nation’s top ranked junior, began attending Illinois' summer basketball camps in fifth grade.

"Right now with coach Weber, I think Illinois is definitely in the mix," Simeon coach Robert Smith said. "I don't know if that's the case if he's fired. Illinois was one of the first schools to offer Jabari. I think coach Weber is a great guy. I think he runs his program top notch. You don't have to look for any scandals with him."

Parker is also considering Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Ohio State, and Kansas.
